VAT Clauses on Corporate Design Documents
VAT Clauses are legally required text blocks that explain the VAT treatment applied on a document — for example, to indicate a reverse-charge rule, a zero-rate exemption, or another regulatory basis. Yaveon 365 Process Base uses the Dynamics 365 Business Central BC standard VAT clause determination to automatically print the correct clause based on the VAT posting setup used in the document lines.
Important
VAT Clauses are only printed on Sales Invoices and Sales Credit Memos. They are not printed on quotes, orders, sales shipments, or any other document type.
How VAT Clause Determination Works
Business Central determines which VAT clause to print by reading the VAT Clause Code assigned to the matching row in the VAT Posting Setup (the combination of VAT Bus. Posting Group and VAT Prod. Posting Group). When a document line uses that posting group combination, the system resolves the clause text through a priority chain — starting with the most specific match and falling back to more general entries.
No manual selection is required on the document itself; the clause is resolved automatically at print time.
Determination Priority
The following priority applies when resolving the VAT clause text. The system uses the first match found, working from the highest to the lowest priority:
| Priority | Source | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (highest) | Extended Text Header | A Yaveon 365 Document Text linked to the VAT clause. Replaces the standard clause text entirely — if an extended text is found, priorities 2–5 are not evaluated. |
| 2 | VAT Clause by Doc. Type Trans. | A language-specific translation of the document-type-specific clause text (e.g. the German text for Invoice). |
| 3 | VAT Clause by Doc. Type | A document-type-specific clause text for the current document type (Invoice or Credit Memo). |
| 4 | VAT Clause Translation | A language-specific translation of the general VAT clause. |
| 5 (lowest) | VAT Clause | The general clause text (Description / Description 2) from the VAT Clauses page. |
Example: A German Sales Invoice uses a VAT clause with a document-type-specific translation for Invoice in German. The system finds a match at priority 2 (VAT Clause by Doc. Type Trans.) and uses that text. The general clause (priority 5) is ignored.
