Availability calculation for picking
The availability for picking is calculated differently from the general (dispositive) availability. In particular, it takes into account the extent to which the stock is also available for logistics processes. The availability for picking is calculated differently depending on the field Directed Put-away and Pick of the Location. In addition, the calculation is performed at two levels - item level and item tracking level, that is, taking lot and serial numbers into account. The latter is the case when availability is calculated for a specific lot or serial number.
Values that are calculated in the same way regardless of directed put-away and pick
| value | calculation |
|---|---|
| Blocked quantity | Stock that is blocked for outgoing or all movements (field Blocked qty.) |
| Quantity in production provision | Quantity in production provision with allocation to FA component |
| Reserved Quantity | Quantity that has been reserved. If the field Calc. Availab. w. Item Trkg. is activated at the storage location, then the quantity assigned in item tracking lines is generally taken into account, even if it is not a reservation. |
| Quantity reserved for current line | Quantity reserved for the current line. |
| Reserved quantity in picking | Part of the reserved quantity for which pickings already exist. |
| Reserved and picked quantity | Part of the reserved quantity for which picking has already been registered and which has not yet been sent. |
Values that are calculated differently depending on directed put-away and pick
| Field | Calculation for location with directed put-away and pick | Calculation for location without directed put-away and pick |
|---|---|---|
| Qty. on warehouse | Stock in bins with one bin type with pick | Stock in all bins |
| Qty. in inventory specification | Quantity assigned via inventory specification | not relevant |
| Qty. in pick worksheet | Quantity already allocated in pick worksheet (only calculated for item level) | not relevant |
| Qty. in pick | Remaining quantity in pick and bin transfers. | Remaining quantity in pick, put-aways and warehouse transfers. |
| Available replenishment quantity | Quantity in replenishment that is not assigned to a specific document and for which a bin transfer has already been created. | not relevant |
| Qty. picked not shipped | not relevant | Quantity picked for warehouse shipment for which no delivery has yet been posted |
| Qty. picked not consumed | Quantity provided for production order components and not yet consumed | Quantity that has been picked/ provisioned for production order components or assembly order lines and has not yet been consumed. |
Important
The calculation of the values that refer to stock is either based on the Quantity (Base) of the stock list or, if the calculation is for the pick worksheet, on the Available Quantity (Base) of the stock list.
In the Quantity on Warehouse, additional stocks are taken into account for locations with directed put-away and pick, if necessary:
- If automatic replenishment is activated for the location or if the calculation is carried out for a whse. phys. invt. journal, stock in bins with a bin type with put-away is also taken into account. The quantity of bin transfers contained in Quantity in Pick is calculated in the same way, taking the bin type into account.
- When calculating the availability for a whse. phys. invt. journal, the stock in bins with a bin type warehouse shipment and in dedicated bins is also taken into account.
- If the calculation is made for an production order component with production provision, the available stock in the bin of the production order component is also taken into account (that is, stock that has not been picked or provisioned for other production order components with this bin).
Calculation of the resulting availability
Two values are displayed as the resulting availability, the Available Qty. Item and the Available Qty. Item (Source Document) (both for item and item tracking). The Available Qty. Item is the available quantity that is still available without consideration for a specific source document.
The Available Quantity is calculated using the following formula:
Available quantity =
Quantity on Warehouse
- Blocked quantity
- Quantity in pick
- Quantity in picking worksheet
- Quantity picked not shipped
- Quantity picked not consumed
- Quantity in inventory specification
- Quantity in production provision
+ Available replenishment quantity
- Reserved quantity
+ Quantity reserved for current line
+ Reserved quantity in pick
+ Reserved and picked quantity
If the Available Qty. Item is greater than or equal to the Qty. reserved for act. line or the Qty. reserved for act. line is zero, then the Available Qty. Item (Source Document) is equal to the Available Qty. Item. Otherwise, the Available Quantity Item (Source Document) equals the minimum of the available quantity without taking reservations into account (last four values of the formula above) and the Quantity reserved for the current line. The Available Qty. Item (Source Document) can therefore be greater than the Available Qty. Item if reservations exist for the source document and partial stock is in bins that cannot be used for pick/production provision or partial stock is blocked by existing logistics documents.
