Determine the Manufacturing Specification version to be used

Various criteria are used to determine the Manufacturing Specification version to be used in the planning worksheet or when calculating the production order. If several Manufacturing Specifications are found using these criteria, the highest version is used.

Determining the Manufacturing Specification version: Status

In principle, only certified manufacturing specifications are taken into account.

Determining the Manufacturing Specification version: Starting Date

The Starting Date of the Manufacturing Specification version must be before the due date or be empty.

Determining the Manufacturing Specification version: Location

In the ProBatch 365 Manufacturing Setup, you can define the use of Manufacturing Specifications with regard to the Location.

The field Manufacturing Specification per Location controls how the Location code specified in the Manufacturing Specification is taken into account when determining the Manufacturing Specification to be used. The field has the following options:

    Option Description
No No filter is set on the Location code. This means that the Location code of the Manufacturing Specification is ignored when determining the Manufacturing Specification.
Yes It filters to the Location code. Only Manufacturing Specifications with the same Location code are taken into account. Note: If the Location code is empty, the default Location code will be taken into account.
If exists The system searches for a Manufacturing Specification with the same Location code. If no Manufacturing Specification can be found, the system searches for a Manufacturing Specification without Location code. Note: If the Location code is empty, the default Location code will be taken into account. This means that the system will search with the specified Location or the default Location if this search was not successful with an empty Location.

In addition, you can define a Location code in the field Default Location code. This code is used in the search if no Location code is specified for determining the Manufacturing Specification and the option Yes or If exists of the Man. Specification per Location is used (for example, item costing, display of a multi-level BOM).

    Note

When working with manufacturing specifications, the BOM or Routing assigned in the stockkeeping units is not taken into account.

Determining the Manufacturing Specification version: Lot size

When calculating the production order, a Manufacturing Specification version is only used if the quantity to be produced is within the lot size range of the Manufacturing Specification. When calculating the planning worksheet, the system splits the proposal lines according to the lot size of the Manufacturing Specification, if necessary. If replenishment method = order quantity, a Manufacturing Specification version with a suitable lot size must exist.

If no suitable manufacturing specification is found, the fields manufacturing specification no. and manufacturing specification version code in the production order line remain empty and no components and operations are calculated. A corresponding message is displayed in the header of the production order.
