    Bin classes

The Bin Class defines a specific type of bin in your warehouse. A bin class is created for each group of bins that are to be handled in the same way. Bin classes can be freely defined in the table.

    Bin classes

You can create a new line with the action New and then assign a Code and a suitable Description to it. When searching for an available bin, the Height (mm) of the load carrier, as well as the Layer Height (mm) of the item is taken into account - the height of the bin class must be at least the same as the height of the load carrier with its content so that the bin is proposed for put-away. In addition, the bin capacity defines for each bin class which and how many load carriers of a load carrier group can be put away. If the field No Space Management is activated, no management of the put-away load carriers takes place in the bin. Only the standard criteria for Weight and Volume are checked. Only the permitted Load Carrier Groups for this bin class are then defined via the Bin Capacity.

    Important

Avoid using Business Central filter operator characters in bin class codes, such as <, >, &, |, *, ?, .., or @. These characters are interpreted as filter operators by Business Central, which can cause unexpected results when this code is used in filters or posting rules.

    Note

Define a bin class with the height = 0 and no space management = active for buffer bins without capacity restrictions. A bin number of 0 means that no bin is available there. However, there is an exception if the bin class in question has the property no space management activated. In this case, you still need an entry in the bin capacity to define which load carrier groups can be put away in the bin. For example: Bin Class "BUFFER" with No Space Management activated requires an entry in the Bin Capacity for Bin Class "BUFFER" with Load Carrier Group Code "EURO". This makes it possible to put away any number of load carriers of the Load Carrier Group "EURO" in a bin with bin class "BUFFER".

The specification of Width and Depth are purely informative at this point.
