    CD Rec. Extensions

The CD Rec. Extensions table stores values for variables and parameters used in Corporate Design documents. It allows maintaining source-specific values — for example, a company registration number for a specific customer or a fixed conversion factor used in calculations — without requiring custom report development.

Entries in this table are referenced by the CD Field Configuration and CD Labels to resolve values at print time.

    Column Explanation

    Source Type

The Source Type defines the business entity to which the entry applies. The following options are available:

    Source Type Description
Vendor The value applies to a specific vendor. Source No. must contain the vendor number. Optionally, Source Sub No. can specify an order address code.
Customer The value applies to a specific customer. Source No. must contain the customer number. Optionally, Source Sub No. can specify a ship-to address code.
Location The value applies to a specific location. Source No. must contain the location code.
Company Information The value applies globally to the company. Source No. is not required.
Responsibility Center The value applies to a specific responsibility center. Source No. must contain the responsibility center code.
Address Buffer The value is not tied to a specific entity and applies globally. Used for global variables such as the CEO name. Source No. is not required.
Cust. Spec. Layout The value applies to a customer-specific layout group. Source No. must contain the layout group code.
Parameter The entry defines the value of a named parameter. Source No. must contain the Text Constant of the parameter as defined in CD Labels.
Condition The entry defines the value used in a condition evaluation. Source No. must contain the Text Constant of the condition as defined in CD Labels.
    Note

Only the Source Type values Address Buffer, Parameter, and Condition are currently evaluated when documents are printed. Address Buffer provides global variable values, Parameter provides values for calculations, and Condition provides values for Contains and Contains not comparisons. The values Vendor, Customer, Location, Company Information, Responsibility Center, and Cust. Spec. Layout can be selected and saved, but they are not yet read by the printing process. Entries created with these source types therefore have no effect on the printed output.

    Source No.

Identifies the specific entity to which the entry applies (vendor number, customer number, location code, etc.). For Source Type = Company Information or Address Buffer, this field is not required. For Source Type = Parameter or Condition, enter the Text Constant of the corresponding entry in CD Labels.

    Source Sub No.

An optional sub-identifier. For Source Type = Customer, this can be a ship-to address code. For Source Type = Vendor, this can be an order address code. Setting this field makes the entry specific to that address.

    Variable

Links the entry to a Variable-type entry in the CD Labels table. Select the Text Constant of the variable whose value this entry provides.

    Value

The actual value resolved at print time. For variables, this is the text printed on the document. For parameters, this is the numeric or text value used in calculations.

    Entry No.

A sequential number assigned automatically when a new entry is created. It is not editable and hidden by default. It ensures that multiple entries for the same source can coexist.

    Usage

    Variables

Variables store values that are printed directly on Corporate Design documents. A variable is first defined in CD Labels with Type = Variable, and its printable value is then maintained here in CD Rec. Extensions.

For example, to print the CEO name in the footer of all documents, create an entry with:

    • Source Type Address Buffer
    • Variable _CEO_Value
    • Value [Name of the CEO]

For a full step-by-step setup including CD Field Configuration, see Extension with Variables.

    Parameters

Parameters store numeric or text values that are referenced in CD calculations. A parameter is first defined in CD Labels with Type = Parameter, and its value is maintained here in CD Rec. Extensions.

    Note

The Text Constant for a parameter in the CD Labels table must be entered in uppercase letters, must not contain spaces, and must not be longer than 20 characters. If this is not followed, the parameter may not be selectable in the Variable field.

For example, to define a conversion factor from KG to LB, create an entry with:

    • Source Type Parameter
    • Source No. CONV_KG_LB
    • Value 2.20462

For a full setup example including the calculation definition, see Calculation and Row Totals.

    Conditions

Conditions store the value a field is compared against when printing a field with the Comparison options Contains or Contains not. A condition is first defined in CD Labels with Label Type = Condition, and the comparison value is maintained here in CD Rec. Extensions.

For example, to compare the Payment Method Code of a posted sales invoice against the value CASH, create an entry with:

    • Source Type Condition
    • Source No. C001
    • Value CASH

For a full setup example including the field configuration, see Use Conditions.
