Inventory Assignment and Inventory Reservation
The Inventory Assignment table is used for three different operations in the system: Replenishment, Inventory Specification, and Production Provision. Inventory Assignment is used to assign inventory to a source document (Warehouse Shipment or production order). Each record in the inventory assignment (Pages Replenishment or Production provision) has inventory reservations that can be accessed through the Assigned Quantity field. The Quantity field indicates the quantity to be moved.
Important
This field Quantity already takes into account the Inventory Rounding that has been set up. The Assigned quantity field shows the partial quantities reserved for documents.
The Inventory Reservation overview lists the document for which this item must be moved. Here, several documents may belong to one inventory assignment line. Each record has a field Status which can have the values Planned, Active or Processed. The statuses express the following:
- Planned: This is the initial status of an Inventory Reservation. It is set when no Warehouse movement or Inventory movement exists. The status is set when Replenishment or a Production Provision is created.
- Active: This status is set once a warehouse activity has been created for the inventory assignment.
- Processed: This status is only used for replenishment. Processed is set when replenishment has been created for a warehouse shipment, the movement for it has been registered, but no Pick has been created yet.
The Bin Code field is updated depending on the Status of the Movement. Initially, this field contains the bin from which the stock is taken. Once the movement has been registered, the destination bin will be shown.
Note
A record of the inventory assignment is always assigned to exactly one record of the Inventory Summary. As soon as the movement for Production Provision is registered, the inventory assignment is deleted, because the process is completed. If a partial quantity is registered, the inventory assignment is reduced by the registered amount.
In the case of Replenishment, the inventory assignment remains, until the Pick that needed the replenishment is registered. If only a partial quantity is registered, the inventory assignment is splitted accordingly.
Important
Inventory reservations have an influence on the availability calculation.
