    CD Field Configuration

The CD Field Configurator can be used to set up the fields and columns on the documents. The configurator controls the position of the fields within the Sections and elements of the document.

With the CD Field Configurator, the following items, among others, can be set up:

    • Print new document fields
    • Change positions of the fields within the documents
    • Customize field descriptions
    • Print data from tables linked to the document (Only simple one-to-one links)
    • Print data under a condition (only one-step condition, limited possibilities)
    • Calculate single values (Simple calculations only)

    Filter in the Header Area

With the filters in this header section the setup lines can be filtered.

    Section

The options in this filter are used to filter to the Section column.

    CD Report ID

You can use this filter to filter the setup lines for one report.

    CD Report Caption

This field shows the name of the document, which is selected in the field CD Report ID.

    CD Layout ID

You can use this filter to filter the setup lines for one CD Layout ID.

    Show Disabled

This filter shows and hides the deactivated lines.

    Configuration

    Columns for application

There are several columns in which you can define where and how the setup lines are used.

    Disabled

The Disabled column can be used to activate and deactivate setup lines.

    Condition

In this column a condition can be defined under which the setup line is valid.

    CD Layout ID

Here you can enter a CD Layout ID for which the setup is valid, e.g. 1000, 2000. If the column remains empty, the setup line is valid for all reports.

The CD Layout ID can be created and entered in the Corporate Design Custom Specific Setup. There, all setup lines with the combination of CD Report ID and CD Layout ID apply to this customer-specific document.

    CD Report ID

The CD Report ID specifies the document to which the setup line applies. If the column remains empty, the setup row applies to all reports.

    Source columns

There are several columns in which you can define where the data for printing comes from.

    Source Type

The Source Type defines whether the data is determined from a table, from the Address buffer or via a function. A table gives direct access to table data. The Address buffer is a table that contains address data and other information. This simplifies access and thus the setup. A Function can be used to print line extensions such as item tracking data.

    Source No.

In this column, the table or function number can be specified, for example, depending on the selected Source Type.

    Source Sub Type

The Source Sub Type column is used in individual cases to distinguish between data records, for example, between several Bank Accounts or different line types. If all Types of line should be printed in the line section of a document, the value -1 must be put into the field. If only certain Types of lines should be printed, a different number has to be put into the field.

For the purchase and sales documents, the following numbers are possible:

    • 0 = Comment
    • 1 = G/L Account
    • 2 = Item
    • 3 = Resource
    • 4 = Fixed Asset
    • 5 = Charge (Item)
    • 10 = Allocation Account

    Type

In this column you can specify more precisely what type of data the setup row is. The field contains the following options:

    Field

The source data is a simple table field which is printed directly on the report.

    Extra Field

Create a field extension, a "virtual field", which can be filled with a variable, e.g. the name of the CEO. One example for the setup of a variable can be found under Extension with Variables.

    Calculation

Calculation of values, e.g. row totals of net- and gross weight. One example for the setup of a variable can be found under Calculation and Row Total.

    Line Extension

It is a line extensions, e.g. extended texts, which are determined by a function.

    Field No.

The number of the table field, function or calculation variable can be selected here. This is supplemented by the field or function name in the Caption column.

Source Table Relation Table Type and Source Table Relation Table

If a field is selected in the Field No. column, that represents the primary key of a linked table, then the linked table is automatically displayed in the Source Table Relationship Table Type and Source Table Relation Table columns. If you now create a second line in which you specify the linked table as Source No., and set both lines to the same Position and Sorting in the same Section, then you replace the field from the first line with the value of the Field No. from the second line. In the Order Confirmation document, for example, you can replace the Salesperson Code with the name of the Salesperson stored in the Salespeople/Purchasers table and add his or her phone number and e-mail address. An example for the setup can be found in the Replace Document Field help page.

    Position columns

    Section

This column defines the area of the document in which the record is printed. The overview CD Layout Sections und Document elements provides an overview of the sections.

    Position

The Position is used to define, where within a Section the data record is printed.

In the Header Section, the Position decides the order of the records from top to bottom. In the Line Section, the Position decides the order of the columns from left to right. In both cases, a consecutive numbering can be used, starting from 1.

In case of a Line extension, the Position is the column to which the line extension belongs, e.g. item tracking data below the item description.

In the Footer Section, the data is printed in order from top left to bottom right, divided into several columns. Depending on the document layout used, there is a column with address data on the left, plus 3 additional columns:

    Column 1 Label Column 1 Data ... Column 2 Label Column 2 Data ... Column 3 Label Column 3 Data ... Column 4 Label Column 4 Data
    1 1 ... 6 6 ... 11 11 ... 16 16
    2 2 ... 7 7 ... 12 12 ... 17 17
    3 3 ... 8 8 ... 13 13 ... 18 18
    4 4 ... 9 9 ... 14 14 ... 19 19
    5 5 ... 10 10 ... 15 15 ... 20 20

    Sorting

If the Position is the same, the Sorting decides which record is printed first. For example, you can print Name and Name2 after the other by giving both the same position, but giving Name2 the Sorting 1.

The Sorting columns sorts the order of the Line extensions. Thus, it can be defined whether the item description 2 will to be printed above or below the item tracking data.

    Output Type

The Output Type column is only relevant for the Line Section. The total number of columns that should be used in the Line Section must be entered here.

    Important

Currently the Corporate Design Layouts, which are supplied by the system, are only implemented with the column numbers of 1, 7, 9 and 15. This means that one of these numbers must be entered. The entry of another number results in an empty Line Section on the document. Exception is the document Certificate of Analysis, here the columns 2 and 3 are possible.

    Use as Caption

If the field Use as Caption is checked, the label of this setup line will be used as Line Header. This field is only relevant in the Line Section.

    Label

The Label defines the description of the field or column. This is taken from the table CD Labels. It is also used to link to variables, e.g. for Calculation and Row Totals.

    Formatting columns

    Label Font Style

Defines the formatting of the Label.

Value Format and Value Format Caption

This defines the formatting of the value, e.g. number format or date format.

    Value Font Style

This is used to define the font formatting.

    Value Append Type

Defines how the value is appended, e.g. after spaces or separators. The column Value Append Type defines how several values are appended to each other at the same Position, e.g. with spaces or separators.

    Split definition

Enter the separator character that is used when Value Append Type Split Definition is selected in the field.

    Calculation Operator

Selection of the calculation operator which is used when Value Append Type Calculation is selected in the field.

    Comparison

Here you can select logical operators for a setup with conditions.

    Subpage Relation to Configured Fields

The Relation to Configured Fields subpage displays setup rows that are connected to the currently selected row in the upper subpage. For example, if there is a setup row that replaces another via the Source Table Relation Table Type, then it will be displayed in the subpage.

    Initialize function

    Init

Running the Initialize function creates a default setup for the Field Configurator. The function can also be used to overwrite the current setup. This function is also part of the Initial Setup.
